A TEMPLE FOR THE HEALING ARTS

Acquired Painting: Spirit of the Hawk.

Elmira LilicComment

Aside from the extraordinary visual beauty of the Spirit of the Hawk, I wanted to buy it because of the “Spirit of Elmira". This high level being - who has become my dear friend- holds healing sessions in the company of the painting so I know how charged it is with powerful positive energy, especially because it’s made with healing crystals. That’s exactly the kind of art I want for my sacred barn at Hawk Medicine Ranch.

-Elana H.

A FULL CIRCLE MOMENT…

The Spirit of the Hawk came from a beautiful vision I had in Costa Rica during a retreat. I witnessed a woman transform into a hawk, she was gliding through the clouds in the most beautiful sunset. A year or so later I found myself in that vision, I myself turned into a hawk and felt what it was like to embody the hawk and fly through the sky.

This painting is rooted in sisterhood, strength, the importance of earth & the heavens working together. It has taught me to view my life and all that is on earth from a higher perspective, as the winged ones do.

A special thank you to my friend Meredith for sharing my painting with Elana. Community is everything in my life, feeling supported and seen feels so good. Thanks to all the moments being in perfect alignment the Spirit of the Hawk will continue to glide over Hawk Medicine Ranch in Pioneer Town, CA and rest in the sacred barn to be a protector, guide and witness to all that will unfold in the healing space.

I am in the studio working on a new series of paintings, I look forward to sharing with you what I create. In the meantime here are the completed works.

Healing Power

Video Interview with Jessie Guo, founder of JCCA Productions. dives deep into the healing power of ART.

The concept of holistic healing has been steadily rising in popularity as people realize their health pertains to the absence of disease and injury and the strength of their emotional and spiritual well-being. They have come to appreciate art as a type of healing because it enhances their mood, encourages self-reflection, and can alleviate symptoms of chronic diseases.

Creative expression is crucial for changing how one understands themselves and relates to their peers. It is not about the product or result but the process. The act of applying paint to canvas, listening to our favorite song, or playing with clay can do wonders for our mental and emotional health. Whether we struggle with anxiety, depression, cancer, or dementia, art is a fantastic tool that not only lifts our spirits but heals our mind.

Elmira Lilic is an artist, art dealer and healer who shares the power of art with people across the globe. She was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her family escaped Sarajevo during the Bosnian Genocide in 1992. Each of her painting begins with a meditation on a particular subject or affirmation.

”One of the most powerful episodes I've done to date with my healer, Elmira; Artist, Healer, and Dealer.

Elmira shares her heart-wrenching childhood memories of growing up in the Bosnian Genocide as grenades bombed her city and snipers gazed her father's head. This episode is beyond empowering - it will make you understand what immigrants endure, their triumphs and their unparalleled resiliency. Finding ART to be her solitude, Elmira followed her passions and followed the path of the artists way in a beautiful journey of struggles and victories. I believe in angels, and Elmira is one of ours.

Her story will rock you, make you believe in yourself, and learn the power of reframing your history and making every loss a lesson. Elmira will show you how to step into your power, no matter the circumstance.”

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?

I am an artist and art dealer who shares the power of art with people across the globe. I believe art allows us to connect and communicate on an immeasurable level.

I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. My family escaped Sarajevo during the Bosnian Genocide in 1992. Our family found refuge in Slovenia and we immigrated to Germany and Minnesota. In my early 20’s I traveled for work and that exposed me to more of the major metropolitan cities in America, which made me realize I belonged somewhere new and different. Once I completed my double bachelor’s in Minnesota, I moved to California the same week of my final class. I knew that my journey was far from over, and when I first arrived to Los Angeles, it felt like my home. LA has everything that I hold valuable, great weather and natural environments, inspiring entrepreneurs and artists, diverse people, versatile cultures, religions and beliefs and I am also very drawn to the rough reality of so many that you cannot avoid. For anyone that drives around LA, you will see the state of this country and its people right in front of your eyes on a daily basis. It inspires me to take action and do what I can to contribute to people healing and feel better about the life that we all share.

Art is and always has been a way for me to communicate, even during the times that I couldn’t speak due to the language barriers. After living in Los Angeles for a year, I found myself out of alignment, not happy, not satisfied with my career or the life I was living. Through mentoring children, I found the one thing I could and really wanted to teach them was to create art and express themselves through a visual form. This brought me to many hours of inner work and self-exploration, which resulted in my art career and the realization of my purpose.

I am in direct commune with the unknown as I am able to see the unseen. Through astral projection and connecting into the subconscious during creation, I bring the unseen into the physical world to be seen in all its beauty. Each of my paintings begins with a meditation on a particular subject or affirmation. Main influences come from nature, my surroundings, life situations and the global environment. While the meditative process guides me through the journey of creation, the paintings reach completion with a final Reiki charge that becomes a portal and energy source to connect to the owner.

I am passionate about guiding others in their journey to build their own art collection to enrich their homes and lives. I continue to explore the vast mediums of art through my own work and the work of other artists. When I am not creating and expressing myself through my own art, I am consulting for other artists and galleries. I consider myself a guardian of art; I have guided numerous clients in finding the perfect artwork for their home or work environment. I have an extensive list of artists and galleries that are on the same mission to protect and nurture the creative force.

Please tell us about your art.

My paintings are gestural abstract paintings. They are created with acrylic paint, crystals, crystal pigments and powders, sand, shells and other found environmental objects. The inspirations in my paintings arrive from dreams, spiritual practices or everyday life occurrences. I especially get inspired when I travel and experience new cultures, environments and communities.

Each painting starts from a vision, a dream or at times, I specifically set an intention for what I want to manifest and bring into the material world. I practice meditation daily, every morning I will do some yoga, kundalini or start a dance party as I make my coffee. This sets me in the mood to create and open up to receive visions and ideas for what to create. During the process of painting, I listen to positive, high-vibe music, as I know the messages will submerge themselves into the canvas as the paint dries. Once I go through the emotional rollercoaster of whether a painting is complete or not, stillness and peace come through and assure me that the painting is complete. There comes a moment of surrendering and letting the paint dry and do what it wants. The next day I wake up to examining what has been created.

I paint because it feels good, it is something that I can share with people that will connect the spirit to the lives of so many. Often times my clients explain to me why they purchased their painting and just about every time it is so in alignment to the reason I painted it in the first place. I wish for people to create art, appreciate art, and see that without it life would be so mundane. Every person has their own art practice, whether it is the way you cook, design websites, build houses, fix cars, educate others, etc. You are creating art and beauty in your own form and no one has the same imprint as you, every person is so unique, beautiful and creative. You are the greatest piece of art.

We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?

I am starting a studio visit/creative session with artists all across the globe. This will be an opportunity to share your knowledge, creations and teach others how to get in touch with their creativity and show them some new skills.

I also highly suggest start or join a group of people to just gather and do something fun. I have a network of women that I meet with couple of times per month for a women’s circle, we enjoy sound healing, practice reiki, provide intuitive healing, study astrology and hold tea ceremonies. It’s one of the best things I do and always look forward to it. If you’d like to join please contact me. We are also welcoming men into our circles once per month, it is time men join us in the healing process.

Other than that, I say open your studio doors and invite us in. We all would love to see what you have created.

Decadent Dreams: An Exploration of Creativity and Expression

Elmira Lilic1 Comment

I am so thankful for everyone that helped my dream come true. I will remember this day forever, it felt so good to see my vision come to life. I imagined curating my own art show in March 2015 after being a part of an art show in Santa Barbara. I loved that evening so much that I knew right away I needed to create my own. Just about a year later that dream came true. I have been taking on one task each month to get me closer to this goal. I have learned so much in the entire process. I know that everything takes a team and a vision. Every person has been a detrimental part to my life and success that has been in my life. I am very grateful for the encouragement, support, advice and friendship from everyone that was involved.

I want to send out a special thanks to Allmost Gallery & Studio for sharing your space with me. A very big thank you to the artists involved; Deborah Lee Baker, Joaquin Howard, Gus Harper and Merima Tricic. Also, thank you John Hartman and Jordyn Giannamore for painting the greeting cards.  I could not have made it through the night without the magnificent team that helped me put everything up and down. Thank you Theresa, Katie, Devon, Mark, Rick, Jenna, Garret and Nehemiah, AJ and Jessica Hinds for your writing. I look forward to curating many more shows.

Bosana Foundation provides marginalized youth with the tools, funds and resources to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential; therefore, moving them from a predicament of poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, which promotes viable civil societies. Bosana hopes that through the empowerment and education of youth history does not repeat itself and that Bosnia and Herzegovina can once again be a country that boasts peaceful multi-ethnic and multi-cultural traditions.

  • Bosana Foundation helps orphan and marginalized youth develop hobbies, interests and confidence by providing job training, internships, mentoring and access to higher education to decrease juvenile delinquency and unemployment.

  • Bosana helps supplement for the massive “brain drain” BiH experienced since the war by educating the youth with technical and practical knowledge and encouraging their drive to succeed.

  • Bosana facilitates peace building and reconstruction of the post conflict society through education.

Bosana 2.jpg

As a native of Bosnia I feel honored to contribute to this wonderful organization. Our family was just one of an estimated 2.2 million other displaced Bosnians that have lost their families, homes, farms and businesses. Since my childhood, Social responsibility was engrained as one of the most important values. The communities that we become a part of are reflections of us and of our society, built on the contribution each individual provides in resources, knowledge and diversity.

20% of our profits and an equal amount of greeting cards for December and January will go to Bosana Foundation.

We are grateful to you for supporting us and the Bosana Foundation!

An Evening of Art & Design at West Elm- Featuring New works by Saatchi Art Artists

Elmira LilicComment

In celebration of Saatchi Art's new partnership with West Elm Los Angeles, Saatchi was excited to present a new exhibition of works by Los Angeles artists, curated by Hayley Miner, Director of Art Advisory to the Trade at Saatchi Art.

My piece "Conscious space" was selected to be shown with a group of very talented artists. I was thrilled to be a part of this pop-up art event at West Elm and look forward to doing more work with Saatchi Art.

My favorite part of this experience is to see a business such as West Elm show that they support their local artists. And I have been to this store many times but really felt it come to life with unique one of a kind artwork above its furniture this evening.

Here is a little more about me.

Elmira Lilic1 Comment

Through artistic expression, I connect with my emotional, mental, and spiritual selves. I see art as an expression of what life is through different perspectives. Art has the powerful ability to communicate across cultural boundaries; it is incredible to see different worldviews through the creations of artists all around the globe. This is the beauty of art to me. I feel personal growth and achievement through my artwork, now I am supporting children and other artists in reaching that expression.

I am immensely involved in my community, I have been teaching kids how to paint for three years with Playground of Dreams. As a mentor, I learned how to teach kids about art and give them the tools and space for their self-expression and vision to flourish. In the past during my volunteer program with World Without Genocide, I helped with the ‘Tents of Witness’ exhibit, it is a visual art exhibit that has reached over 12,000 people since 2012, promoting genocide awareness, educational information and instructions on taking action.

Artistic expression is the language of the soul; the final product is a record of visions that helps us see the world in different ways. I am dedicated to using art as my tool of self-expression, exploring my challenges, finding my confidence and contributing to the world.
